The following resources are available through the City of Wood Dale Police Department.

Senior Wake Up Service
The Wood Dale Police Department has a popular program in place where every morning of every day, we check up on our senior citizens and check on their well being. We call once in the morning to make contact and ensure all is fine with them. If we fail to make contact, a police officer will be sent to their home to attempt to make contact.

This program is designed for seniors who do not have any family or friends in the area that regularly check in with them. If you have a family member or elderly neighbor who you feel could benefit from this service, we can help!  To find out more information about the program, please contact Police Department Records Clerk, Carey at 630-787-3823 and ask to register for the Senior Wake Up program.

Sheriff's Program for At Risk Residents (S.P.A.R.R.)
The Wood Dale Police Department is working with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office with regards to the S.P.A.R.R. program. S.P.A.R.R. is a voluntary program designed to assist residents of DuPage County who may be at risk of becoming confused, lost, disoriented or missing. Registering the at risk residents information prior to an emergency may save critical minutes in information gathering so law enforcement can expedite the search for the missing person.

DuPage Senior Citizens Council
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council is a not-for-profit volunteer driven organization that provides a variety of programs and services to help seniors live safely in their homes and provide them the opportunity to maintain their well being. 

Convalescent Center
The DuPage Convalescent Center was originally built in 1888, when it started as a County Alms House for the indigent. Residents of the home farmed the 217 acre parcel and had a herd of dairy cattle. They supported themselves and provided additional food to the county jail inmates. It wasn't until the 1930's that it became a nursing facility that provided much needed health care to the community. It has developed into one of the most modern, best equipped, professionally staffed, treatment and rehabilitation centers for the chronically ill in the State of Illinois.

DuPage County Resource Helper (PDF)

DuPage RX Prescription Drug Card
DuPage Rx helps consumers save money on their prescription medications any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The free cards are distributed by the County and may be used at any participating retail pharmacy.

Home Delivered Meals
DuPage County Senior Citizen Services arranges home delivered meals for homebound seniors who are unable to shop, prepare meals, or attend a Senior Dining Center.

Homeless Management Information System
The purpose of a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is to gather information about the extent and nature of homelessness to assist planners, policy makers and providers of services to the homeless to design the most effective policies and programs, to coordinate care, and better serve clients.

Randall Residence of Wood Dale

Randall Residence of Wood Dale is a brand new, vibrant senior living community offering Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. The luxurious accommodations include spacious studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites ranging from 386 to 939 square feet. Apartments vary in specifics but most feature kitchenettes with full size refrigerator, granite counter tops and ample upper and lower cabinet space. Generous bathrooms are highlighted by contemporary chrome Moen fixtures as well as walk in showers.  Some of the assistance available includes: trained staff, including nurses, on-site 24 hours a day; health care monitored by on-site licensed nurses; medication management; personal assistance with hygiene, grooming, bathing, dressing and mobility assistance. 

Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Deferral Program

The Senior Citizens' Real Estate Tax Deferral program provides tax relief for qualified senior citizens by allowing them to defer $5,000 of their property tax on their principal residence.

Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption
The Senior Homestead Exemption provides for a maximum of a $4,000 (through the 2012 tax year) reduction from the equalized assessed valuation. For a senior whose property is subject to a tax rate of $7.70 per one hundred dollars of assessed value, this results in a tax savings of $308 ($4,000 x 7.70%.). Effective for the 2013 pay 2014 tax year, the maximum assessed value deduction will be $5,000.

Senior Citizens' Assessment Freeze Exemption
The Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption provides seniors with limited income protection against real estate tax increases due to rising property values. It is not a tax freeze or a tax reduction and does not protect against increased taxes due to tax rate increases. Because this exemption provides for a base year frozen assessment, it will potentially provide increased savings each year a senior is eligible. The base assessment used in the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption initially equals the assessed value from the prior year tax calculation. In subsequent years, if the new assessed value is lower than their original base value, the new lower value becomes the new base amount. This is assuming the assessment reduction is not the result of a temporary adjustment because of a physical property change such as a fire or flood adjustment.
