Watering Restrictions for Lawn Sprinkling

City Ordinance (Chapter 7, Article III, Section 7.307) limit’s the sprinkling lawns and gardens to the following times:

• Sprinkling of lawns at any residential, commercial or industrial location with an even-numbered address may occur only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on days with EVEN NUMBERED DATES.

•  Sprinkling of lawns at any location indicated above, with an odd-numbered address may occur only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on days with ODD NUMBERED DATES.

• Newly planted grass or shrubs may be watered at other times than those indicated above only following the issuance of a special watering permit. A permit for watering outside the above time periods for fifteen (15) days is available at City Hall for $15.  Click here for the permit application form.  Contact the Finance Department for fee information at (630) 766-4900.

The planting of sod during the summer months is not recommended. Refusal to adhere to restrictions of the City Code may result in citation and fines.
