The City of Wood Dale does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under title I of the ADA. The DSSA assists residents of DuPage County with disabilities through a variety of services and acts as a referral and information resource center for many programs offered to the disabled community.
Grievance Procedure under the Americans with Disabilities Act
This Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). It may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of activities, benefits, programs or services by the City of Wood Dale.
The complaint should be:
- In writing
- Contain information about the alleged discrimination such as name, email, phone number of complainant and location, date and description of the problem
- Signed by the complainant.
Alternative means of filing complaints such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request.
A signed complaint should be submitted by the complainant or designee as soon as possible but no later than 30 calendar days after the alleged violation to:

Response Procedure
- Within 21 calendar days after receipt of the complaint, a written response will be sent via Certified Mail to the complainant.
- If the response does not satisfactorily resolve the issue, the complainant or his/her representative may appeal the decision within 21 calendar days to the City Manager or designee.
- Within 21 calendar days after receipt of the appeal, the City Manager or designee will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. Within 21 calendar days after the meeting, the City Manager or designee will respond in writing and send the response via Certified Mail to complainant. The decision of the City Manager shall be final.
- If for any reason there is a need to extend any of the 21 calendar day limits, an extension may be considered after consultation between the complainant and the city.
- All written complaints received by ADA Coordinator, appeals to the City Manager or designee, and responses from these two offices will be retained by the City Manager for at least three years.
