The City of Wood Dale is required to have a permit from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) for its storm sewer system under the Federal “National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)” program.
The requirement for a NPDES permit for the City’s “MS4” (municipal separate stormsewer system) comes from the Federal Clean Water Act in affect since 1972.
