Where can I find my plat of survey?
Most likely, your plat of survey may be found with your homes closing documents. If you are unable to locate your plat of survey, your lender may have a copy they can send to you. If a copy is not available, you may hire a land surveyor to create a new plat of survey.
What are the plat of survey requirements?
Projects involving site work require a code compliant current (within 5 years) plat of survey to be submitted with the permit application. Projects such as replacement of an existing driveway, sidewalk or patio will require a plat of survey that is accurate (depicting all current improvements on the property). If the plat of survey is older than 5 years, it can be submitted with a signed and notarized affidavit. Projects that add 50 square feet or more of lot coverage require a current survey (within one year of permit application). The plat of survey must be full size (and to scale) signed and stamped by a land surveyor licensed in Illinois.
