The Wood Dale Police Department has a Police Bike Patrol in an effort to foster a closer relationship with the residents of Wood Dale.  Patrol officers assigned to the Bike Patrol have their squad cars outfitted with bike racks and bikes to allow them time to patrol on the bicycles in your neighborhoods.

We feel that it is an important part of a police officer’s duties to get out in the community and form positive lasting relationships with the people we serve. Having our officers out on bicycles will allow the officers a different perspective on the community, as well as give the community the opportunity to interact with the officers and foster even better relationships.

Patrolling the neighborhoods on a bicycle will offer our officers an opportunity to see and hear things they might not from the inside of a patrol car.

The bicycle patrol officers will be outfitted in special uniforms, yellow reflective shirts with identifiable police insignias/patches and police markings.
