The Wood Dale Police Department coordinates a Community Volunteer Program. We train ordinary people to handle emergencies in the event of a natural disaster or terrorist attack.

Sergeant Ryan O'Neil supervises the department’s volunteer program. Their goal is to make Wood Dale citizens better prepared for any type of situation. If a natural or man made disaster occurs, it could strain police and fire department resources to an unsafe limit. We need to know there are group of citizens in Wood Dale who are trained to help themselves and their neighbors until emergency personnel can arrive at the scene. It is a preparedness issue for the Department.

The Volunteers also assist the police department in many ways.
