The City has recently updated the Citywide Drainage and Flood Improvements Study (Baxter & Woodman; 2013) to further investigate several flood prone areas in Ward 1. The Ward 1 Drainage and Flood Improvements Study (Engineering Resource Associates; 2023) identified several projects to address stormwater deficiencies in these areas.

After discussion by the City of Wood Dale Public Works Committee, it was determined that the City would proceed with the first three projects specified in the draft 10-year Capital Improvement Plan. These projects include the creation of a stormwater detention basin at the northwest corner of IL-83 and Oak Meadows Drive, modifications to the existing detention basin located at Oak Meadows Drive and Edgewood Avenue, as well as increased conveyance sewers between the two basins.
