All material must be at the curb by 7 am the day of service.

The City of Wood Dale contracts with Flood Brothers to provide refuse collection for residents. Flood Brothers is the oldest and largest family owned and operated solid waste collector in the Chicagoland area, having provided service for over 85 years. Flood Brothers is committed to providing exceptional service week in and week out.

Holidays

If a holiday falls on a weekday or Sunday, (if holiday falls on Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the following Monday) and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day.

Flood Brothers will NOT collect on the following holidays:

  • NEW YEAR’S DAY
  • MEMORIAL DAY
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY
  • LABOR DAY
  • THANKSGIVING DAY
  • CHRISTMAS DAY

Refuse/Garbage Collection

Flood Brothers will provide a free 95-gallon refuse cart to each household receiving curbside refuse collection via exclusive franchise contract with the City. Alternate sizes are available for residents to switch out of the default 95-gallon size. Additional carts can be rented through Flood Brothers by contacting our office, a monthly rental fee will be applied. Residents have the option to utilize their own refuse containers, they must be properly contained in cans or bags, and not to exceed 35 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight per can or bag, or large items that cannot be containerized. Refuse which is not readily storable in refuse containers will be collected by Flood Brothers if it is stacked neatly alongside of refuse containers on regular refuse collection days. There will be no limit on the number of containers placed out for collection by a given household, provided all containers meet the requirements above.

Recycling

Flood Brothers will provide a 65-gallon recycling cart at no charge to each household receiving curbside refuse collection via exclusive franchise contract with the City. We will allow recycling materials to be comingled (i.e. plastic, glass, metal and paper products mixed together). Preparation requirements for households participating in the recycling program including: rinsing, removing labels, flattening, removing caps and lids, etc. can be found on our website. Alternate sizes are available for residents to switch out of the default 65-gallon size. Flood Brothers will have additional recycling carts available if requested by residents at no additional charge. Residents will be allowed to use additional containers with handles or if recycling materials are stacked neatly alongside of recycling containers on regular recycling collection days.

Yard Waste

The yard waste collection service will be offered each year from April 1st through November 30th. In order for an approved yard waste or leaf container to be collected, each acceptable container must be properly designated with a City yard waste decal, which shall mean that it has a yard waste decal exclusively supplied by the City securely and visibly affixed. Paper yard waste bags may be used but need not bear a decal. There is no limit on the number of residential yard waste containers or bags placed out for collection by a given household, provided all containers and bundles are not in excess of the four (4) foot length requirement; bags containing unacceptable material, such as refuse or dirt; container is not overweight; and the like. Flood Brothers will have available at an additional monthly rental cost, a yard waste approved cart, please contact our office for delivery. Flood Brothers will collect brush and tree trimmings as long as the materials are bundled and secured with biodegradable twine or other acceptable material, and no more than four (4) feet in length and fifty (50) pounds in weight. Each branch shall not exceed two (2) inches in diameter, with the total diameter of the bundle not to exceed eighteen (18) inches.

Bulk Items

Flood Brothers will provide collection services for items which are too large to fit into an approved refuse container, but do not exceed, in total 50 pounds in weight. Examples include: discarded toys, crates, barrels, small tables, small chairs, etc. Flood Brothers will also provide collection services for items exceeding 50 pounds in weight. Examples include: sofas, tables, mattresses and dressers, etc.

White Goods

Flood Brothers will also provide collection services for white good items (i.e. appliances) exceeding 50 pounds in weight. Examples include: refrigerators, dish washers, water heaters, washers, dryers, etc.

Construction Materials

Flood Brothers will pick up small amounts of construction material that is in proper containers, not to exceed 35 gallons, weighing less than 50 pounds or bundled into 4-foot bundles not exceeding 50 pounds, and secured on both sides. The debris from small remodeling projects cannot exceed 2 cubic yards, the equivalent of 10 normal trash containers. This material will be picked up at no additional charge to the resident. In the event large amounts of construction materials are placed at the curb, which exceeds 2 cubic yards, the resident is responsible to arrange a special pick-up for the removal and disposal of those materials by contacting the Flood Brothers officean additional charge for collection will apply.
